No Mommy, No Medicine!

And it begins, the fight for getting my child to take his medicine.  When he was under two, whenever I had to give Brock medicine I never had a problem.  Now the whole medicine giving has become such an issue!  I never knew he could run so fast or scream so loud!  I became desperate to giving him medicine, especially since the doctor prescribed antibiotics for a recent bronchitis infection!  I NEEDED to get him to take this, and he NEEDED to swallow 99% of it! After asking some fellow mom's, I found out about a cup called "Sippy Sure".

It looks totally legit.  I thought for sure I would conceal that medicine, nobody would know and Brock would be well on his way to great medication to feel better.  The benefit about this is, instead of just plain right mixing it with your child's medicine, you put it in the cup.  That way if they do not take to it, you still have the option to give it to them the good old fashioned way.  It's not blended in to where you cannot get it out anymore.  Definite advantage.

I ordered the "Sippy Sure" cup off of Amazon.com for $8.99.  To me, the nine dollars I was spending was entirely worth my effort of getting this child to get the medicine to make him better.  The cup arrived and I was anxious to try it out.  We opened up the box, and he was excited that his new cup has "fishies" on it.  I thought for sure this was going to be a deal sealer.  When it came time to get his medicine, I poured his favorite drink in the cup, and his medicine in the cup designated for that.  He took one sip and said......."Yucky!".  The cup did not work as planned.

This is a great idea for kids who just hate the idea of medicine.  For Brock, I think it goes a little further, and he just hates the taste!  No matter what I gave him it was still "Yucky".  My youngest is sick as well, but I lucked out with him as he takes his medicine no problems at all and sucks on that syringe until it is all gone!  This cup would be PERFECT in so many ways for the child who just hates the thought of getting medicine.  You could easily pull a fast one and get him to drink his juice as well as his medication in the same step.  Save a lot on your sanity instead of chasing your child around the house, or pinning them to floor explaining why you have to do this, as you get a medicine dropper in their mouth!  Great idea behind this product, and I am really sad that this did not work how I wanted it to this time.  I have hopes for next time with maybe a different flavor medicine!  Orange flavored medicine did not go well in many ways for Brock.

Let's Get Up to Speed

I figured I would go ahead and try the blogging...again.  I have failed before, but figured now is a good time to go ahead and try again.

So we now have a new addition in our family, who isn't really new, he will be ONE in just a few weeks.  Brock, our first born, is 2 and such a handful! Jaxton is our newest. Brock is attempting potty training now and he is so awesome at it!  He pretty much walks around naked though and drags his potty into the living room, but at least he is going on it, right? :)  His talking is improving each and every day and I love hearing the new words he says.  Such a great feeling.  Jaxton, he is an angel.  He is Daddy's boy 100%.  Sad to see Brandon leave for work, takes him awhile to regroup after Daddy leaves.  Luckily he normally is napping during that time so it isn't always bad!  He walks around all the time now, it's bittersweet to see your youngest become a little "boy" and not a baby!   He claps and talks his little baby talk all the time.  Brock just absolutely adores him and is so worried that I will forget him when we leave the house.  There are fights, they aren't perfect, they try my patience a good majority of the day, but I wouldn't have it any other way.  I love them both more than life itself.

I am currently going to school to make something of myself.  Right.  I had the goal of becoming a Nurse, that has changed a million times in the few semesters I have completed.  Such a tough decision to make.  I just don't think I am cut out for the unknown of the Nursing field.  Major credit given to those that can handle that! I'm leaning more towards being an Accountant.  I absolutely love math so I figured maybe I should go ahead and punch numbers all day long.

Brandon is still with Verizon Wireless, he is going on year number 5! It's still weird to think of us a grown-ups that hold a job down for multiple years!  It's a draining job, I know as that is where we met and fell in love.  He puts his time in and does his job to provide for his family.  It's rough on one income, but as soon as I am done with school, it will be a better help for my contribution to be a more substantial one.  Plus, we can't imagine putting our children in daycare just yet.  I know he has many days when he just wants to throw the towel in, but I commend him for being strong enough to not to that as so many people can't say they are.

This has been a rough couple of years for us in many different ways.  I look forward to the future when things are easy! I look at my parents and thank God for the role they play in our lives every single day.  I have a wonderful support system and I couldn't ask for anything more.  My kid's get me through each and every tough day by seeing a simple smile on their faces

3 Months and Counting...

So I have succumbed and decided to give this whole blogging a go. Why not, right? Everyone seems to be doing it nowadays. Not to mention that it keeps my mind off of impatiently waiting the birth of our first born. What a great experience it has been so far!! I must say that it can be a very nerve racking experience if you let it take a hold of you. It truly is amazing how much my life has changed already, and i know that it will only continue to intensify as the countdown lingers to a close and our baby boy arrives out into the world. I am so grateful to be sharing this experience with my grounded husband. He is absolutely amazing! I really could not be more happy and lucky at that fact! We have slowly been preparing for "D-Day" and I still feel great anxiety that we have so much more to do! I was told that as long as I have a car seat to take the little guy home in, no need to worry about anything else! Yea right! We are right now living with my husband's mother. She is a wonderful person as well and we are lucky to be able to have family so willing to help us out. We had a few letdowns which led us to the situation we are in. Trust me, we would love our own place! Before we were married last year we were house hunting, we found this INCREDIBLE house, absolutely gorgeous, all the amenities that we wanted. We put our offer on it, got the okay from the bank and we were just waiting on closing. We got married, and were temporarily staying with my husbands Grandparents. A few days after we moved in there we received a phone call. I assumed this was the call telling us its time to finally close on our house. My husband gets off the phone and tells me that the deal is off. The loan that we were getting was just in my husbands name, and had a specific income qualification, it was a Rural Housing Loan, and since we were married they had to include my income which stated then that we made too much money and put us back at square one. At first I thought that he was joking---he is known for playing jokes, then I realized he wasn't. It was as if my whole world came crashing down on me. What an incredible disappointment very shortly into our marriage. We were filled with "What Ifs." My credit was not great at that time and with both of us on the loan the interest rate skyrocketed! There was no way we could afford it. So we went out and splurged this money that we had saved because we were both so incredibly depressed by this new situation. We went out and got ourselves into debt, just not the way we wanted! We purchased a new car, my husband put all the bells and whistles on it himself--he is great with car audio and making everything look great. Months went by, in the meantime my husbands brother and his new wife who was carrying her first child moved into their Grandparents now as well, shortly after my husband's cousin and her daughter moved in. They have a great big family, and they are very close and have such a great bond. It's a wonderful family to have been able to marry into. But here we were...newlyweds..living with 6 other people, sharing bathrooms, and basically hiding out in the room that we were staying in. Definitely not the life we intended to lead. Then in December we found out that we were pregnant. We decided that we needed more space, so we went out house looking again, we had been saving and going over our finances in the previous 6 months so we were ready. We found a realtor that we were very comfortable with as he is a member of the church my husband's mom belongs too. We went out and looked and looked and looked. We found "the house". It was great. Great location, great mountain practically in the backyard, the neighborhood had such a great feeling to it. I knew this was the house. So we went all in on this one. It was a short sale, and we knew that there was nothing short about a short sale. Over a month goes by and we do not hear anything about our offer. Finally, close to TWO months after we put in our offer we hear back. The bank that has the mortgage for the previous owners stated that a house in the area sold for $10,000 more than what they were asking so they wanted us to increase our offer by $10,000. We couldn't. We were going to be strapped as it was especially with a new baby on the way! It was another heart wrenching situation for us. So, we decided to go ahead and move into my husband's mom's house. She is here by herself, so it was definitely going to give us opportunity to not feel so crowded, and we didn't have to share a bathroom! Being pregnant, that is very important!! So far we have been here for about a month, and its been great. A lot better for our marriage, and sanity! Not that there is anything wrong with a big family, its just nice to be able to have peace and quiet sometimes! When you don't have it, you definitely miss it, so I have learned not to take advantage of that! There has been a lot of stress for me personally and it has finally gotten better and know that there is nothing more important than my family and the new little one on the way. Nothing else matters.
