No Soup For You!

Okay, sorry for the bad Seinfeld reference! ;)  I didn't even really watch the show, but for some reason that quote seemed to be oh-so-popular and made me think of it while coming up with a name for this.  I don't know about y'all, but I love a good soup.  My mom didn't really make too  many soups as a kid, but Split Pea Soup always seemed to be made any time we had ham.  This by far is THE MOST delicious split pea soup I have ever tasted.  Waaaay better than anything you can buy in a can! So I wanted to share the recipe so that more people can enjoy it.  Plus with Easter and that coming up(if y'all celebrate it) usually there are things like ham served on the table, or at least you can buy one at such a reasonable price when holiday's do come up!  This is excellent for leftovers!!

 

What You Will Need:

Ham(take as much meat as you can off the bone, but do NOT throw the bone away)

Split peas(usually found by the beans in your grocery store)

Onion
5-6 Potatoes(depending upon size and preference)

Bay leaf

Water

What You Will Do:

First you will want to chop up the ham into bite size pieces.  And like I said before, get as much off the bone as you can. 

 

 

Then you will want to chop up the onion.

 

Cut up the potatoes into smaller cubes.

 

The split peas do need to be rinsed first and remove any "bad" looking peas.  The best way to rinse them is with a strainer.  A collander has holes that these little peas like to fall out of(trust me I made the mistake before).  Then add all the ingredients into a large enough pot to hold them all.  Add enough water to completely cover all the ingredients.  Throw in your bay leaf and turn the heat on the stove to medium.  Once the soup comes to a boil, reduce the heat to simmer and let it sit there until it has reached a thicker consistency.  If it still seems watery after about 3 hours, then you may want to add a little corn starch to thicken it up.

 

And that is it!  I promise you will not be disappointed!

*I forgot to put away dinner last night, so now it is bad and I have to clean a nasty crock pot! You win some you lose some right? ;)

Shick Hydro Silk Review

Alright, so recently I joined BzzAgent and after a process I got my first Campaign.  A Shick HydroSilk Razor for free and some coupons as well for $5 off to pass out to my friends that may want to try this razor! My first thought, is a razor is a razor.  I will use pretty much anything to shave with, I am so not picky when it comes to that, maybe because I don't shave my legs as often as I should, because I have tried expensive, and tried cheap.  So I was already "eh" on trying this razor.  I received it, and let me tell you guys, I love it.  This razor is great because it does have 5 blades for an extra close shave, which is important for me.  The moisturizing bar is above and below the bars so it feels like you are applying lotion immediately after shaving. No razor burn! The rubber handle is great and ergonomically designed, meaning it would sit funny on your shelves in your shower or tub, wherever you choose to do the deed.  I can say that after trying this product, a razor isn't just a razor anymore!

No More Broken Makeup!

This week I tackled fixing my broken powder!  I have been dealing with the "crumbs" for awhile now.  It was a sad day when it broke, and doesn't it always seem to happen when you JUST get a new product?!  The slow motion feeling comes about as your makeup falls to a hard fall on the bathroom floor!  So when I ran across this tutorial, I figured it was worth a shot! Here is the Pinspiration...

How To Fix Broken Makeup

And here is my version:

I will go through the directions..

You will need:

Rubbing Alcohol

Something you can use as a spatula

A small makeup brush

A small square of plastic wrap

PAPER TOWEL

(dropper is optional, I just found this to be easier)

Okay so first, you want to cover your makeup tightly with the plastic wrap.  

Then you will want to take your spatula and finely crush the pieces of makeup so you have a really fine powder.  I did this all over the paper towel, to avoid a huge mess.

Take the plastic wrap off, and add some rubbing alcohol.  I used a dropper for this and filled the dropper up about 3 times.  You want the makeup to become very creamy in consistency.

Now, take your makeup brush and smooth everything out. I obviously had an issue getting it really smooth looking, I am thinking I didn't use enough rubbing alcohol.  

Let it sit and dry for a few hours.  When all is said and done, you will have makeup that looks like new!  Mine may not look like the original post, but its better than crumbs, so I am still very happy with this!
