Dorito's Taco Bake

Dear Taco Bell,
You have graced us with the ever so amazing Dorito's Taco.  I am forever thankful to you and will continue to eat those whenever I have the opportunity.
Sincerely,
Mandie(not Mandie's hips or weight)

So while browsing Pinterest one day (all hail Pinterest!), I found this recipe..Doritos Taco BAKE. Ooooh I could just picture that being just like my favorite Taco Bell taco.  I was thrilled, spoken like  a fat girl. OH well...

So I decided to do it on my own and thought how great this would be on so many levels.

Here are the ingredients..
-bag of Doritos chips
-sour cream(8oz)
-Tomato Sauce(8oz)
-can of refridgerated crescent rolls
-taco seasoning package
-1 lb ground beef
1 1/2 cups shredded cheddar cheese

First you want to brown the ground beef and preheat your oven to
350 degrees...

Then once that is completely cooked, add in the can of tomato sauce, and the taco seasoning package(don't worry about following the directions on the seasoning package), let this simmer for about 5 minutes after you have mixed it all together...

Take a 9x13 pan and spray it lightly with cooking spray.  Open your crescent rolls and press them onto the pan, seal the edges together so there are no gaps...(I goofed and bough Crescent ROUNDS..oops..still worked though!)

Spread the meat mixture over the top of the crescent rolls...

Next, take your sour cream and spread it on top of the meat to cover it all...

Take the shredded cheese and spread it over the sour cream.  Take your Doritos and crush them up as good as you can(good chance to get any frustrations out, if this works for you!), sprinkle this on top of the cheese, then throw it in the oven for about 45 minutes.

Once you take this out of the oven you will get something that looks along these lines...

I could definitely see myself making this again, very delicious and not sooo healthy.  Which to be honest, happens a lot in my house ;)  It is a work in progress.

  3. My family does something like this but we call it Dorito Salad. We just brown the hamburger meat, throw the taco seasoning in there and have all the ingredients for tacos set out. Then as salads go we put it all in a bowl =) Cheapest dinner in the world! Nice to see a new spin on it though ;)

  4. I make something very similar to this you sgould try...instead of crescent rolls i cook 2 boxes of shells and cheese macaroni and when thats done with the cheese in it i mix in the 8 oz. Of sour cream. Put tge mac and cheese mixture in the pan first and then meat mixture as you made before..top with cheese and then crushed up doritos. Sounds weird but i promise you wont regret it!!!!! :)

  9. Our family gobbled this up! So good!!! But next time we will put the doritos on top during the last few minutes of baking. Ours were thermally enhanced.

  10. I'm making this tonight but going to try and cut the fat using reduced fat cheddar, ground turkey, and greek yogurt instead of sour cream.

  11. I think I would try this with crescent roll dough instead of the biscuits.
